About Miss Thomas

My name is Laura Thomas and I am currently a sophomore Secondary Education-English major at Bloomsburg University. I am excited about teaching high school English, and hope to create an understanding and appreciation of language arts in my students. I grew up in Danville Pennsylvanina, a town not far from the university that I attend, and graduated in 2006 from the Danville Area High School. Ever since I was little I have enjoyed reading for pleasure, and through my high school career I came to love writing, public speaking and literature as well.
Outside the academic world, I work part time at a local veterinary clinic. It may seem like working as a receptionist at an animal hospital has nothing to do with my career choice. But, I feel that through my job I have learned to interact and communicate with all types of people, across various situations. Obviously, skills in communication are essential to being an effective teacher. My family also operates a small beef operation and is invovled in hobby farming. Working with our cows and horses is something that I truely enjoy and would like to continue doing in the future. As you look around this site, I hope that you will get a better idea of who I am, my ideas about English education and my goals for teaching!
